Ruble noticed that the tribe had rounded the far bend in the road and would soon be there. The ceremony was; at last about to get underway. Ariskara had finished patching up Stilu and all of the "clean up" had been taken care of so Ruble went to stand on Stilu's side of the huge tree. "Looks like we need to take our places for the ceremony," he said nodding in the direction of the procession. Eranya; he knew; would be somewhere near the middle of it; symbolic of the ceremony being centered around her (and Stilu) starting a new life together.

Then; taking the highly decorated symbolic Chitin spear from Stilu's hand; he walked to half way between the two groups and drove its point into the soft earth beside the trail. He then stepped back and Stilu strode forward and attached his full water skin to the spear. Stilu did not step back but stood there waiting for his bride to come forward.
First however; Eranya's father stepped forward and after tieing the reins of a pack guar to the spear stepped back. Now; Eranya approached in her hands she held the final item to be attached to the spear; a small bouquet of flowers and herbs from the grazelands.
The couple now stood facing one another. They joined hands and looked first at Eranya's family and then to Ruble and the rest of Stilu's company; if anyone had an objection to the couple being wed they were to say so now and fight a duel to the death with Stilu. No one said a word.
Removing the symbolic items from the spear; Stilu handed them to Eranya and pulled the spear out of the ground. He now had only one thing left to do to complete the marriage ritual. He had to use the spear to hunt and kill an animal; any animal; as a sacrifice to the gods. If the gods approved of the couple being wed they would provide an animal for him to kill before the end of the day. If not...
Neither Eranya nor anyone else could do anything more to help Stilu until AFTER his hunt was completed and the kill had been made. Until then; she was to wait with the symbols of love, fertility and prosperity; for his return.
