As in, one with little cash? Consider staying in one of the inns when you need to sleep. to gain levels. You can find ones for 10 septims a night.

oh for this Thieves Guild quest i met with Gray Fox for a quest at some guys house. And the person had these awesome two tame dogs whose names i forget. The person talks about how she tames dogs. But i didn't see anything about getting one. I can find the house name if you really want me to

Why on earth would you want to even spend 2k on a house?!? when for, as you pointed out,you can sleep for 10 gold a night in an inn? I'd much rather spend 10k on sum crazy spell or enchantment, that actually bares an in-game advantage unlike a friggin mansion

If its a mansion you seek, you'd be spending 15k. For 2k its far from a mansion you'd have.

Since everyone is interested in housing I am attaching a list of all the houses available in the game (and no there is no house that is worth 400,000). As for Arnifix, you have to sleep in the house in avil first in order for the quest to continue.

::: SOME SPOILERS:::

Anvil (5,000 gold)
Purchased through the side-quest "Where Spirits Have Lease".

Bravil (4,000 gold)
A little worn-out single room house on the floor below Luciana Galena's place, located on the southern side of the canal.
How to buy: Raise Count Regulus Terentius' Disposition to 50 before he'll discuss the sale.
Fame Requirement: None.
Furniture: Nilawen at The Fair Deal.

Bruma (10,000 gold)
Double-storey log house located near Bruma's East Gate.
How to buy: Raise Countess Narina Carvain's Disposition to 60 before she'll discuss the sale.
Fame Requirement: None.
Furniture: Suurootan in Novaroma.

Cheydinhal (15,000 gold)
Double-storey house located next to Willowbank in lovely surrounds.
How to buy: Raise Count Andel Indarys' Disposition to 60 before he'll discuss the sale.
Fame Requirement: None.
Furniture: Borba gra-Uzgash in Borba's Goods and Stores.

Chorrol (20,000 gold)
Built of stone, given the title 'Arborwatch', a big double storey home. Located next to the Mages Guild.
How to buy: Raise Countess Arriana Valga's Disposition to 70 for her to discuss the sale.
Fame Requirement: 13+
Furniture: Seed Neeus at Northern Goods and Trade.

Imperial City (2,000 gold)
A single room hut located in the island slum just outside the city proper.
How to buy: Vinicia Melissaeia at the Office of Imperial Commerce (Market District).
Fame Requirement: None.
Furniture: Sergius Verus at Three Brothers Trade Goods.

Leyawiin (7,000 gold)
Small but clean single-storey house in a nice location.
How to buy: Raise Count Marius Caro's Disposition to 60 before he'll discuss the sale.
Fame Requirement: None.
Furniture: Gundalas at Best Goods and Guarantees.

Skingrad (25,000 gold)
The Manor House, Rosethorn Hall - the biggest and most expensive house in the game.
How to buy: Speak to Hal-Liurz at the Skingrad Castle about buying the house. He'll pass you on to Shum gro-Yarug. Raise his Disposition to 70 before he'll discuss the sale.
Fame Requirement: 15+
Furniture: Gunder at Colovian Traders.
Servant: After buying the Servant's Quarters package talk to Gunder's assistant, Eyja. For 150 gold she will move into your home and be your 'servant'. Talk to her about "Food" to receive her homemade shepherd's pie. Talk to her about "Drink" for a bottle of Rosethorn mead.
Secret: Look for something hidden on the top floor.

Thanks, sky. I didn't know anything about the fame requirements.

my house in skingrad is pretty sweet...its a pain in the butt 2 get 60,000 but u get a rlly nice ring and a maid...as well as the pride of owning a nice little castle

(the ring is the band of gray and it gives some nice assasain buffs and detect life 30 ft which helps in clearing oblivion gates)
