Vampirism

Vampires are feared throughout Tamriel. In most provinces they can blend in fine, and although many people are wary of them, they can get along ok with others. In Summerset isle and Morrowind, however, vampires are despised, and are forced to go into hiding in Dwemer ruins, caves and Ancestral Tombs, as the Dunmer and Altmer (but not so much Altmer) are experts at recognising vampires. If someone refuses to take off their helm in public, The nearest Ordinator is called and told to rip the helm off the persons head. If there is a vampire underneath, they burn him at the stake. If not, the Ordinator lets them go free.

Vampires are naturally faster, stronger and stealthier than mortals. They have to feed on blood to survive.

Becoming a vampire is rare, and those who do are normally doing it intentionally. In a fight with a vampire, a person may become infected with a disease called Porphyric Hemophilia. If after three days the disease isn?t cured, the victim becomes a vampire. This is why people who become vampires usually do it intentionally, because anyone else would cast a cure on themselves straight after a fight with a vampire, just to be sure.

On Vvardenfell, there are three vampire clans.

Quarra: These vampires are the strongest and best warriors. Some disregard armour and weapons and just use the strength their clan gets. Their ancient is a female Cyrodiil (Imperial) called Volrina Quarra. Their ?base? is the Dwemer Ruin Druscashti.

Aundae: These vampires are powerful mages. They often forget weapons, but never spells. Many like using short blades. Their ancient is a female Altmer called Dhaunayne Aundae, and she resides in the Ancestral Tomb of Ashmelech.

Berne: The Berne clan is stealthy, sticking to the shadows and then surprising their prey by quickly lunging at them. They are very agile, even compared to the other clans. Their ancient is a male Cyrodiil (Imperial) called Raxle Berne. He lives in Galom Daeus, a Dwemer Ruin near Uvirith?s grave.

In Cyrodiil, The Imperial Province, vampires can stay looking like normal mortal as long as they keep drinking blood. If they stop drinking, they start to look like monsters, and the sun starts to burn them. Otherwise they can pass for ordinary people.

Vampires drink blood from ?Cattle? these are slaves who donate their blood to vampires.
